A culinary rock star - Tina Marcelli and her love of the Ahrntal Valley

Tina Marcelli brings her impressive life story and masterful skill to our holiday region. As a child she grew up in St. Johann with her grandmother, who is now 97 years old, and discovered her passion for nature and cooking at a young age – a love, that became the basis of her extraordinary cuisine.

Tradition meets award-winning cuisine

Tina Marcelli has earned countless awards. At the 2025 Gault & Millau Award Ceremony, she was crowned “Chef of the Year”. In addition, her restaurant, Artifex, has been awarded the green MICHELIN star – recognition of her efforts to achieve a sustainable gastronomy that combines culinary enjoyment with environmental awareness.

Even with her experience of working in renowned gourmet restaurants and being awarded 4 toques, Tina always returns to her grandmother’s simple, authentic recipes. Her dishes tell stories of family, tradition and the region.

Tina knows the farmers and farms that supply the fresh ingredients in her kitchen and values close cooperation with local producers. Every product that she uses tells a story – from the lush pastures where the animals graze to the hard work of the farmers that shape the Ahrntal valley. This closeness to home and the people that live there is one of the secrets of Tina’s unique cuisine.

Tina Marcelli’s absolute favourite ingredient from the Ahrntal valley is the traditional Graukäse cheese. With its unmistakeable piquancy and long history, not only is it a culinary highlight but it is also symbolic of the down-to-earth nature and diversity of the region. Be it in traditional dishes or new, creative ones – it is impossible to imagine Tina’s cuisine without grey cheese.
