Free admission to the museum for holders of the Ahrntal Valley holiday region Guest Pass
The sight of the mighty Taufers Castle (Burg Taufers) literally calls for an exploration of the complex (13th century) from up close.
The picturesque castle courtyard with keep, battlement and knight’s taproom are worth a visit. The many wood-panelled halls and chambers date back to the 16th century and are fully furnished. The castle chapel is decorated with frescoes from the Pacher School. The guides of the South Tyrolean Castle Institute are committed to show the many interior rooms and pass on the many legends and castle stories, such as that of poor Margarethe von Taufers, whose ghost mourns night after night for her lover.
